SOCAR’s “Green Bonds” Commence Trading on the Baku Stock Exchange
On March 7, 2025, a formal event was held at “SOCAR Tower” to mark the commencement of trading of SOCAR’s “Green Bonds” on the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE).
The event was attended by the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairman of SOCAR’s Supervisory Board, Mikayil Jabbarov, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, as well as executives from BSE, MDM, banks, insurance, and investment companies, along with representatives from the academic community.
The event began with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of the country.
After the screening of a video dedicated to SOCAR bonds, speakers discussed the growing global demand for renewable energy and the increasing sensitivity to environmental issues. They highlighted Azerbaijan’s strategic goals, the country’s efforts in this direction, and the projects SOCAR has implemented in the field of renewable energy.
It was emphasized that “Green Bonds” introduce new opportunities to the domestic capital markets in alignment with SOCAR’s sustainable development objectives. The positive momentum created by SOCAR Bonds in the local capital markets since their issuance in 2016, the long-term trust and interest of investors, and the economic value generated by these bonds in recent years were particularly noted.
The launch of SOCAR’s “Green Bonds” is considered a significant step toward expanding environmentally sustainable investment instruments and marks the beginning of a new phase in this direction.
The event concluded with the symbolic “opening bell” ceremony, officially launching the secondary market trading of SOCAR’s “Green Bonds” on the BSE. This was followed by the signing of a symbolic bond certificate and a commemorative photo session.
SOCAR’s “Green Bonds” not only strengthen the company’s strategic position in the capital markets but also reflect its commitment to environmental values and sustainable development priorities.
